My Stay at Yes Bay

I love Yes Bay Lodge! My first trip to Alaska was in 1987 and I fell in love with its raw beauty and plentiful fishing. Over the years I have been to many lodges and Yes Bay is one of the best. After deciding to visit SE Alaska I started a search that lasted several months. I talked to over thirty lodges comparing costs, facilities and services. Yes Bay was at the top of the list and when I talked to lodge owner, Kevin Hack, at the Sport Show I knew this was the place. I booked a week trip for my whole family, my wife and two sons ages 2 & 6. I was the only one fishing and Kevin made accommodations for the rest of my family, so we all had a great time. From the time we arrived we felt that we were at a five star hotel. The lodge is the classic Alaskan wood construction, warm and inviting. The staff catered to our every need, and with small children there were many. The food was five stars all the way, the cook even shared recipes with my wife. And most importantly for me the guides and fishing were great. I fished with Jim Lucas and I can say that in all my years of fishing with professional guides, I have never fished with a more experienced guide then Jim. We had a great time and he can tell some funny stories, but best of all he knows how to catch fish. There aren't many lodges out there that provide one guide for every 2 guests like Yes Bay does. The lodge has a million dollar view, every night after all the guests turned in, I would grab a fresh cookie out of the jar and pour a cup of hot chocolate and sit by the fire as it burned down looking out at the view and soaking up the beauty of the location. If you take a trip to Yes Bay, you'll feel the same way I do and you too will love The Yes Bay Lodge.
